Open-RBI
OpenRBI is an open proof-of-concept tool provided for demonstration and evaluation purposes only. Use it at your own discretion and risk. All calculations, assumptions and outputs should be independently verified before being relied upon.
OpenRBI can be downloaded and used without paying a software licence, but applying it properly within a company is a professional engineering service.
With nothing to hide: The software is open and transparent, but its implimentation by an RPEQ is a paid service.
The work may include:
preparing and validating equipment data;
configuring the methodology to company requirements;
defining credible damage mechanisms;
reviewing corrosion rates and inspection effectiveness;
checking probability and consequence inputs;
developing inspection plans;
verifying calculations and reports;
training personnel;
producing plant-wide analysis; and
providing RPEQ competent engineering review.
OpenRBI is not a black-box subscription system. Its calculation methodology is visible and can be examined, reviewed and understood by the user. The customer is not being asked to trust an inaccessible calculation engine that produces results without showing how they were obtained. It is also not rented software that becomes unavailable when a subscription ends. Once the customer has the software, it remains available for continued use. Access does not depend on recurring licence payments, continued vendor approval or connection to a remote proprietary platform.
The customer retains control of the assessment files, equipment data and completed results. These records are not locked inside a vendor-controlled database that may become inaccessible if the commercial relationship ends. The customer can retain and reopen the files using the version of OpenRBI already in its possession. The free software therefore provides transparency, continuity and local control. The commercial service sits elsewhere. Professional implementation, data validation, configuration, verification, training, plant-wide analysis and engineering support remain paid services.
The customer is not paying merely for access to a calculation file. The customer is paying for the expertise required to apply the methodology correctly, verify the inputs, interpret the results and develop a reliable company RBI program.
